I am installing the brackets and foot pegs on my '81 GS1100. Something looks off. There seems to be a spacer or something missing behind the bracket (between frame and bracket) on the bolt I am pointing to. The reason I think this is because there is a 1/4 inch space there and if I tighten the bolt as is I will bend the bracket. Can anyone enlighten me?
What goes behind this bolt?

Can you take some pictures looking behind it or with the footrest mount off?
Something appears to be bent. This IS for your '82 1100G, right?

Yes, this is my '82GS1100. The middle lower hole that I am pointing to is not on the same plane as the other holes. It fits together nicely if I put five washers between the bracket and frame. There has to be something that goes there.Attached FilesComment

My bike has a piece that bolts there that acts as a stop to keep the brake lever from returning up too high.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

From GSX1000E's pic looks to me like my lower tab has been bent inward about a 1/4 inch. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that this bike has been down so that seems peculiar to me. So now I'm wondering if I should attempted to bent it back or should I just use the washers as a spacer to compensate for the difference?Comment
