GS1150 Heli coil camshaft top brackets threads for tappet cover repair...

I would like to heli coil the cam bracket threads for mounting the tappet cover.
Will I be able to make sure there is no cam shaft pressure on the valves and then undo one at a time, heli coil and replace?

I really don't want to remove them all, fix and replace.... this just seems easier.

Normally they are undone in sequence...

Not sure how anyone else would feel about this, but if it were my bike, I would certainly consider doing them one at a time.

I would remove the cam caps one at a time, repair that one and reinstall it using a torque wrench before going to the next cap if there are only a couple that need heli coiling. If doing all of them, I would remove all at the same time. As long as the head gasket seal is unbroken, you should be fine. Note, the cam caps have to be returned to the location they were removed from with the same orientation. Once they are all back in position, it's just a matter of a criss cross pattern with a torque wrench in small increments, going through the pattern a dozen times until everything is at the same torque. Not difficult.

I strongly suggest using a drill press to both drill and tap the new threads.
