    Motorcycle jack/lift positioning

Just picked up one of these. Now I can get some more clearance and really focus on cleaning the heck out of everything.

Amazing deals on this 1500Lb Steel Atv / Motorcycle Lift at Harbor Freight. Quality tools & low prices.

I don't want to damage anything, especially the exhaust. Can anyone share their tips for using this jack with my 82 GS850G?

I have a lift like that and it is pretty much useless with a GS, unless you take the exhaust off. Even then, it requires some supporting 2x4s or something under the frame tubes.

It can be handy when removing or installing the motor in the frame, as you can lift the motor to just the right height.

It works well with lot of cruisers where you can put it under the frame members without damaging anything else or taking anything off. Not easy to adapt to a GS

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

That is the typical sale price.

I owned one of those lifts briefly that was given to me as part of a package deal. I tried it out on two bikes and immediately Craiglisted it to some Harley owner. True story!
