    Oil Level Sight Glass (650L)

Just did an oil change on the new bike, and after adding the required oil, the sight glass looks completely empty.

Any ideas as to why that might be?

You have the bike on the centerstand?

And did you remove both drain plugs to drain the oil?

The 650 shaft engine is different from the others...

Just one drain plug on the pan and then the filter cartridge.

              Bike is on center stand.

OK if you don't pull the second drain plug, the oil in the gearbox stays in there, when you put in the new oil it's going to be way over the window. Tip it to the left far enough, I bet you will see the oil level.

The 650 uses regular motor oil for the transmission or final drive where the driveshaft comes out, there are two drain plugs but only one filler cap to add oil.
Not pulling the second plug will keep a lot of oil in there...
The 650 is a bit of a queer duck in a lot of ways.

If you put 3.5 quarts of oil in, it's full with a filter change, especially if you ignored draining the "other" plug. Your clean oil might be making it hard to determine.
