    Can't tell from the pic.
    If it is not an adjustment collar i don't think it would matter.

      It looks like it is the spring retention collar. If that is correct it doesn't matter where the cutout goes.

        As long as the collar is fully centered on the shaft, it doesn't matter which way it points.

          Got it on but when I tighten the but the washer goes into the hole on the shock and rubber bush extrudes slightly think it should be OK??
