Can I still use these air box rubber seals?

Hey guys. I pulled the air box covers off my 1979 GS850G the other day and the rubber seals started peeling off, so I just took them all the way off. I've not taken them off since purchasing the bike. I think they look to be in pretty decent shape for their age but I'd like to know what you guys think. Clearly they need cleaning, there's still weather sealant on there, but there's no cracking or shredding. As I said I think they look pretty decent, was thinking about cleaning them up and reinstalling with weather sealant. OR, if they need to be replaced I'll follow the instructions on this PDF by bwringer on an aftermarket fix.

You can try super glue to repair then if successful try fitting them and see how you go, if you don't like the fit go with the tutorial.

Thanks for the reply man. When you say repair them, what do you mean exactly? Are they not supposed to be separated like that? It's such a clean cut I assumed that's how they were made

Mine are one piece as far as I remember, if they were made split you would have to assume they would be split identical.

Yea, I thought the same thing about the fact that they weren't split in identical locations. I was being optimistic

Most generally use 1/8 or 3/16 foam self stick foam weatherstrip
