I?ve got a spare seat for my 83 1100 and would like to use it for longer rides. Any one put extra padding on the stock foam or any other way to get a softer seat?

A lot of people do something like this. Make a pocket/depression in the seat, insert a gel pad covered by a little memory foam and then cover the entire area with a thin low density foam to make the cosmetics a little better. There are a lot of EBay sellers for the materials and google will find some instructions.
