i just bought an 81 GS450L bike and after buying a new tachometer cable i noticed the problem was coming from the drive gear on the engine side which is not turning. Any idea what the cause might be and what are my options for solving it?
With the new cable and an electrical screwdriver i tried to test the tachometer on the dashboard, which also seems to have a problem: if i turn the screwdriver it turns the needle and holds it into position, something like a wall clock does when you set the time. To turn it back to zero i have to unscrew the cable.
PS. if this problem was already posted , I apologize for re-posting, the search function did not return any tachometer keyword search responses.
Thanks in advance!
