UK GS1000 owners Rotella t40 alternative
With no availability of Rotella T40 in the UK, just wondered what alternative engine oil you use for your big GS'sTags: None -
Didn't you already post this question in another forum? No need to cross post.
Look for some diesel oil. Most all are fine for a GS. Castrol GTX diesel would be a good option. I think another UK member here uses that with good results.Ed
To measure is to know.

I've used Castrol GTX diesel for a good few years now, in all my bikes. Works fine. There might be better / cheaper / more expensive out there but it's seen my bikes ok.79 GS1000S

I use Comma Mineral Motorway oil at ?9.95 a 5 litre can. I once used Silkolene Comp 4 as I use in the bandit. The GS clutched slipped like a '*******' and I had oil leaks from gaskets. Went to the Comma, no oil leaks and the clutch stopped slipping.Comment

Here's my take on it, Rotella is cheap and does the job, that's why we use it. Those who don't have access to it can easily substitute thier locally available oil and build your own superiority narrative around it just like we did with Rotella.2001 Kawasaki Voyager XII (Current bike)
