The seal that is in it now is completely toasted. it has no rubber left at all. only the bare metal plate. I thought about doing what you said to remove it but was very leary as I didn't know for sure yet or not if you can put a new seal in without splitting the cases. I knew that if I pulled the seal out and could not get a new one in that way that the engine would now have to come apart. I plan on taking this bike to the southern rally in one week so that is out.
Maybe if I am lucky just a new o-ring will stop it or slow it down a bit at a minimum?
As soon as the seal gets here, I'll look at all of that. I'll turn that spacer around too just to be sure.
