R/R testing i think i figured it out

i have been testing every thing on my bike and know i think i figured out the problem when i un pluged the R/R and tested it it came up allmost under 5 ohms and in my manual it says they should be between 5-6 and tey were rite around 2. but i just want to make sure that it means it needs to be replace because my bike dosent have a R/R plug so i want to be sure befor i cut the plug off a new R/R to soilder it together . thanks for any help and im sorry about all the qustions

Depending on where you get the R/R it might not have a plug. The aftermarket ones ive seen are just wires that have bullet connectors on them.

If you get a used one from another bike youll probably have to cut off the connector anyway. i did anyway.

    Hope that helps

I really dont know as far as the ohm reading you got. From the sounds of your last post (melted wires) i would say its bad.

Check the voltage coming out of the regulator. If its going over 15 volts (while twisting the throttle) its bad.
