head gasket... or head cover gasket ? the latter can be made but it's complicated and threy're cheap anyway

Yes, it can. Remove the tank, of course. You can put in new pistons, cylinders, and head with out removing the engine.

Be careful with the timing chain guide in the front of the engine,remove carefully before unseating the head,if you disturb the cylinder base gasket or it's leaking, now's the time to do that also, and don't forget the 'O' rings!
