Lost keys

I saw a guy at a dealer with a newer bike that lost his keys. They had to pull out the ignition switch to get a series of numbers from the underside of it. I left after that, i dont know if he got a key on the spot or one had to be ordered.
You could check your local dealer and see what is involved in getting a new key. Personally, i would call a local locksmith as they would probably be alot cheaper and easier to deal with. I have yet to have any good luck with dealers regarding old bikes.

Also, check the number on the ignition switch (underneath?) and also on the seat latch. Just to be sure you only need the one key.Originally posted by first timertake the gas cap number to a locksmith that can look up key codes and he can pull the cut pattern and you should be good, you may need to bring your title with you.

Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

I had the same problem and went to a local locksmith. I brought him the gas tank and the seat lock. The two of them combined equal the ignition. There is also, however, a number stamped on the back of the ignition switch. He can cut from that.
Expect to pay around $20-$30. $5 for a duplicate.
