    630 to 530 Chain Conversion

I see on e-bay someone offering a "kit" for changing the heavy 630 chain to a lighter 530 chain. He will include the front and rear sprockets (you can specify how many teeth you want). I was needing a new chain/sprocket for the 1000. Any downfalls anyone can see by making this change?? Has anyone done this?

Did it last year on my 1000S.
    NO problems at all.

I went with a good RX chain and steel sprockets.
Put a big washer on each side of the front sprocket, like .79$ each at the hardware store.
Stock gearing, runs great, no excessive chain stretch or wear.

    No issues........

It's buried in here somewhere.maybe performance mods?

    edit.........found it

Here's what I found on e-bay. Do you think I will need spacers on this set-up, or just a straight swap?

        hmmmmmm

        Hard to tell.
the front sprocket look like it may have some offset to it.
I'd ask them a question via ebay about it
Or go to their web site and ask.
If anything it'll cost less tah n$2 for the spacers from the hardware store.
        No worries.

The buy it now of $139 is a decent deal. What brand sprockets?
        just curious

I'd be curious as to the quality of the chain and sprockets. Might be good stuff or it might be not so good. You could assemble this set yourself for about $80 out of the JC Whitney catalog or a little more for name brand stuff from Dennis Kirk. The Dennis Kirk catalog used to list the components required for a 630 to 530 conversion too....

I asked him the questions... his response:

"6mm washer supplied, 25 extra for the chain.
steel sprockets, excellent quality from a major
              sprocket supplier."
