I just received my repaired fuel tank, and installed it to verify no leaks. There was a slight leak around the petcock mating surface which appears to be caused by a small amount of warpage (you can feel thast it is not 100% flat). Any suggestions for leveling the surface, or a sealant that would hold up to constant exposure to gasoline? Thanks.

You have to make sure it is not leaking through the bolt threads, they are through holes and leak unless new special cork/paper washers are used when mounting. You can use Loctite 515 gasket eliminatior, it works great on threads and surfaces; gas does not effect it.

mine was leaking through the bold threads. A little (blue!) loctite did the trick!Comment

You may want to look for Hylomar polyurethane sealant. I don't know if it is widely available, but Pingel sells it. It works.Comment
