reads 16 volts at the battery terminals

Its a GS550LZ (1982). I checked the voltage using my multimeter. The PO claims he installed a new battery. Is this a problem?

It's around 16v all the time. Drops to 15.6v before I start it up with the ignition turned on. I'm gonna try a different multimeter since this one had been through alot and I'm not sure I trust it 100%. Maybe I'll see what it reads off my car.

        err.. never mind

I just put the meter on my car and it read 17v. Look like a trip to radio shack is on the schedule.

Good luck....a meter is sure cheaper than a new R/R.

it is always best to discover a bad meter before you buy lots of expensive parts that don't fix a perceived problem, right Frosty??

Picked up a new meter. Sure enough I'm getting 12-13 volts consistently.
