OIL COOLER ADAPTER QUESTION!
You guys are great. So I figure someone would have the right answer. I just installed an oil cooler in my GS850G. I routed the lies underneath the engine. Turned out great-seems to be working find, no leaks! When I bolted down the oil cooler adapter which replaces the old oil sending unit housing(underneath the carbs) I didn't think about till after the installation - how does the oil circulate through the cooler since I only saw one hole supplying oil to the original oil sending unit? If there is not another drain hole for the oil it will just sit there. Can anyone ease my mind about this? I didn't want to unbolt the oil cooler adapter to have a look. Riley

Mine's an '80 GS 550 L. I have a cooler which I can mount to the frame where tubes run around the engine just under the steering stem above the exhausts. Then run the lines to the oil pressure sending unit near the cam chain adjuster behind the block. The return line is a guess. Finding the fitting to set under the sending unit a mystery, machining one even more of a hassle. Is there any dusty info for this mod including hardware sources? (It just rolled by 20,000 miles

Ok. That's just what I'm looking for. So, where can another one of these be obtained? The fitting that is. The lines I can probably get locally at a parts retailer, or mail order over the web.Comment

Yes a bloke in Australia makes the adapters for $80 odd bucks.
Try terry at sherriffbuck@yahoo.com for them. The fittings are available at hydraulic places. But he makes them for rubbers hoses, i had to modify mine for the large hosesComment
