GS to GSXR front end swap

Question if any one can help me.
I am looking into swapping out the front end on my 83 GS750ES to the gixxer frontend. But what will year fit? Is it a bolt on change? I have herd that it is really pretty easy. I am really looking into swapping out my front end to for the better forks and the 17 inch front wheel. I have a friend who owns a motorcycle junk yard. So getting the front end would not be to hard. Can anyone give me any advice or tips on this. Thanks guys.
