Crankcase cover bolt torque
Anyone know what torque would be good for those thin little chrome bolts that hold on the polished aluminum crankcase covers? I'm guessing only 5 or 6 ft-Lbs or less with blue loc-tite?Tags: None

The side cover screws are 6mm in diameter. The Suzuki shop manual torque specs for other nuts and bolts are 3.0-5.0 lb-ft for a standard or "4" marked 6mm bolt. If the bolt is marked "7" (harder) the specs are 6.0-8.5 lb-ft.
The standard screws are not hardened, and 3.0-5.0 lb-ft should be OK. Twisiting them in hand tight with a screwdriver should be fine. Tightening too much may strip the screw head or cause some other problem.
