Are 1100 heads all the same???

    Greetings,

I have a head off a 82 gs1100 that I want to sell on ebay. I need to know if there was more than one head manufactured for this bike or are all the 1100's the same. In other words if somebody buys this head for their 1100, I want to be sure it fits.

    Thanks, Paul

I would just say, specifically what bike your's is (or what bike this head came off of) and then let the seller determine it. Always make sure to say selling AS IS and you should be good.

NO, they are not all the same.

G models have two valves per cylinder

E models have 4 valves per cylinder.

      They are not interchangeable.

If it's an 1100E head, it will fit the 81-83 year 1100E's. The only difference is the cams between the 81/82 and the 83.

I'm not schooled in the G models, but I assume it's the same deal. As the years progress, the cam timing got tweeked.

They also upgraded the cam cover and head on the 24 valve head too, so you can't use a 20 bolt hole cover from an early model on the late model 24 bolt hole cover or vise-verse. But if you are including the cam cover with the head it should solve that question, If not then just count the bolt holes and include that in your infor and you'll be good to go.
