    Help Please Advanced Carb Related..

    Hey guys..

Well i bought a set of bs carbs of ebay for my gs650 project and the guy before me did a number on the internals. Jet's were different sizes, etc. Horrible.

Anyways, I have fixed all of that, but have one very serious problem.

The choke tube, that drops down into the fuel bowl "resevoir".. Usually it is a very thin pin hole, well it looks like he's removed one of them. Not the whole tube, just the pin hole "cap".

So the sucking power of the tube, instead of being limited to a pin hole, is now the whole diameter of the tube.

What can i do to fix this? What are my chances of prying it out? I have junker set of carbs that i tried prying one of the tubes out, put i didn't get anywhere. One alternative i was thinking about was using JD WELD to cap off the end, and just drill a fine fine hole in it. Would this work?

Sorry for the long thread, and thanks for your help. I've attached a picture to show what i'm talking about.

Well, after about 2 hrs of working, i got them all back together. Here's what i did. I literally cut the old pin head out of the junker set of carbs. From there, i carefully and gently tapped it into the empty spot on my keeper carbs. (alot harder than it sounds)

hopefully this can be a solution to those people that run into the same thing i did.

It looks like a brass part so I would try to solder a piece of copper or bass (take a pre-1982 penny and beat it flat with a hammer - cut a small pieace and file it down to size), over the hole using a tiny spec of flux and a low power (circuit board) iron. Once the the hole is capped I would then drill. I'd probably screw it up since I am impatient and have big hands that shake like a mf. Bad luck on the ebay buy. It happens.

I have seen them both with & without the pin hole. That tube IS only for the choke circuit
