    hissing sound

I have a `78 Gs 1000E It makes a constant hissing sound and emits white smoke when cold. The hissing is constant . What could this be? I had the valves done last year. I have only put 22 mile on it since the valve job

Have you checked the intake mainfolds for leaks? If your petcock has a vacuum line it could be loose.

        hissing

I don`t believe that it is the tach cable. I put a new cable on this month.
I had the carbs off this winter and I sprayed the boots(intake ) with armour all they looked fine. I am really stumped!

Check the boots running from the carbs to the head.

I am willing to bet, that you have a valve stuck open, that is usually whay 'white smoke' (read-fuel mix) is going out the back. do the compression test..let us know what you get
