How to clean and prepare slide diaphram

I have the CV carbs on my 1980 GS750. I noticed when I removed the slides the diaphragms were kind of sticky like they had a then coat of Vaseline on them. How should I clean and prepare the diaphragms for installation?

    Thanks,
    David

I had the same thing when I cleaned my carbies. i don't know if this is the right thing to do, but I just sprayed a little carb cleaner on a rag and wiped the gunk off the diaphrams. It didn't damage the rubber at all.

Or a drop of petrol/gasoline. Don't put anything like vaseline on them though.... it will perish them in no time.
