fork snap ring? mine appear to have crimp rings

Doing the fork springs and oil. I popped off the covers with my snap ring pliers ready and was suprised to find that the internal retaining rings have no holes. They look like crimp rings. How am I supposed to get these out?

I also noticed the same on my forks. I gently used a flat-head screwdriver , going around to each crimp and pushing it out gently.

Yep. That did it. Clymers even has a nice picture for the fork seal ring to show you how. Too much crack in my pipe today.

My Clymer's manual swore that I needed snap-ring pliers, but my forks had the wire "crimp rings" too. Flat-bladed screwdriver and they came right out.
