CS Carbs on a 1979 head using radiator hose and pixie dust

So I've got the same problem as the guy in this thread. I have a GS850 that required a head replacement, and the new head (that I've gone to great lengths to acquire and recondition) turned out to have the 1979-sized intakes.

Anyway, someone suggested using radiator hose to create makeshift boots. Has anyone here ever actually done this? If I do it, will it cause me to die in a fire?

    Thanks

Edit: I mean "CV". What are the other ones called, by the way? VM?

VM is correct. You can use radiator hose but no telling what kind of results you'll get using the CV's or if you will be able to get a good seal going from hose large enough to fit the CV's down small enough to fit the intake port. Normally you try to match the intake ports to the carbs.

      I'd try the magic dust.

This could make a great horror movie. "The intake leak that wouldn't die!"
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Didn't mean to poke fun at you. Seriously. Get the right head. If the smaller head bolts on fine, then get some VM 26 carbs too . But the right head is what you should use.
