Leaking Gas

Hi, I just got my gs550L running after rebuilding my carbs and such, but there are two problems. the first is it will not idle and the second is that gas is leaking out the intake side of the carbs through some custom foam filter/pods on each carb. any ieas why? thanks

Bad float adjustment or bad float needle and seat. Did you replaced the needle and seat with the rebuild and checked float height. What rebuild kit did you use if any? Some brands float needles are pos. Did you jet for the pods?

ya i replaced it and set the float height. I used a K&L kit. no rejetting.

Were on ther float did you measure? Did you hold the carbs upside down with only gravity pushing the float and measure from the gasket base to the stepdown on the float at the hinge, where the curvature starts. Your problem really sounds float related. Where did you get your height specs?

yes I did, i got the specs from the clymers manual.

Did you replace the O Rings around the float valves? If you did, did you crush the area that the float needle sits in? That will cause function problems.
