    Changing head gasket

I am going to be changing my head gasket due to an oil leak. My block is clean so I know that the head gasket is the source not the valve cover. I will be ordering an entire gasket set from here

But before I order it, I was wondering if I could get a thinner head gasket to increase the cylinder compression therefore getting more power?

If a thinner one was available, you would then need adjustable cam sprocketss to degree the cams back in.

Get an 1166 kit while the cylinders are off:-D Big Jay is right, if you don't have the same heigth you started with you cams will be off. Ape has adjustable cam sprockets and machine shops can modify stock.

I wouldent even think about playing with different thickness head gaskets simply based upon the above mentioned cams fact, and once you start increasing compression, you could possibly encounter "detonation" (detonation is BAD!). And questions will arise thereafter as to how much octane you need to curb the detonation?. Really not woth the risks in my opinion.
