Hey, all. Finally finished my GS(X) 750 rebuild. Took her out for a flogging and she stood up well. Here are some pics. Any tips on some cosmetic upgrades would be appreciated..... also, what is the ideal oil temp for these engines????

But, I have a silly question: how would you know the oil temp even if we did know what an optimum reading was? Is there a cool hidden gauge I don't know about someplace?

I thought optimum oil temp was anything low enough to keep the little red OIL light from coming on...

starting in 1983 the 750E and 1100E came with a oil temp gauge, it is not to hard to retrofit one of these clusters to another model and wire in the sending unit.
there are also aftermarket temp gauges available.

200-240*F is ideal

oil temp guage

this is a 1982 gsx 750 australian model. It has a fuel guage and a oil temp guage. it even has a spedo and a taco . my engine sits around 110 degrees celcius. Just wondering if this was normal and should i avoid having the bike idling with out riding it flat out to get the wind pumping through the fins??? Sorry but this is the first air cooled engine i have ever built.....
