    hi could i make a compression tester with the gauge from a air foot pump it has a guage that reads up 250psi

    You need a gauge that will "hold" the reading after you take it. The compression tester has a one way valve in the stem.

      Try Autozone's free rentals...

      You buy it and then return it for a full refund, it is basically free rental.
      Not sure if they have compression gauges at all stores.

          You can buy the 'real thing' at Harbor Tool for $4.99, complete with a 14mm fitting. They're not expensive or complicated so I would think a cheap one would work perfectly for our needs.
