Removing factory pin stripes - best way?
Whats the best way to remove the factory pin stripes from a plastic fairing? Using a razor you can cut into the plastic if your not careful. Is there a prefered chemical that won't affect the plastic?1982 GS1000S Katana

Depending on if your pinstripes are under clear or not.
No way to do it without damamge if they are under a clear coat
If not, the only way to get them off cleanly and easily without damage to the paint underneath is with a hair dryer on low and a plastic razorblade.
Plastic razorblades are made for this and are available at all automotive paint stores.
Good luck.Comment

I sanded them off...
Wet sanded, 320 or so can't remember. After they were gone, there is still a ridge where the stripes were, it is still visible under the new paint if you know where to look. It is far worse in the areas where the sun had done the most damage to the paint. Maybe if you sanded a whole lot more you could get rid of it.Comment
