Can I reuse the heat-protective wire insulation over the Dyna wiring? It seems like the Dyna insulation would get a little crispy so close to the engine where the stock wires run. I haven't tried yet, but it looks like I may be able to route things through the stock heat-shield insulation. This probably easier said than done, though, so is it necessary?
Also, I'm considering doing the following for a static timing:
1) Key on
2) Line up marks
3) Hook up coil to cylinder 1 (or 4)to a "spark tester" with the clip grounded to the block.
4) Spin Dyna S "rotor plate" until I get spark out of 1 (or 4). Visually mark.
5) Retest visual mark by turning rotor plate again until spark.
6) Fasten down rotor plate.
7) Use timing light to double check and go from there
Finally, the splicer thingy they give you for the orange/white and red wires seems a little chinsy. I think it might be worthwhile soldering things together. Overkill in your opinion???
I'll take some digital photos to document stuff for future reference for amateurs like myself.
