    Axel Metal slightly pitted--- ok?

    Hi all,

The front axle on my 850 has become slightly pitted near the outside edges (not in center where the bearings are). Im wondering if this is unacceptable? Should I replace it, or will it be ok?

I think i caused it by washing my bike improperly too many times.....i usually lube it up with moly 60, but used some shampoo a few times that got in the area...

    gotta run

I dont see it being a problem as long as these pits arent big enough where you think it would weaken the axle.

That isnt going to hurt anything. I dont think your washing the bike with shampoo had anything to do with it. LOL
        Dont worry about it.

          Hey guys,

          thanks a lot.

Well, its definitely not bad enough to do any harm really(just worried). It never appeared before, but I did have to ride it through a 10 min of slush to get it to storage before winter hit. first time it has seen road salt....

cant wait to try my new lasertecs that i just slapped on front and rear!~!

          thanks again!
