Maxium Smoke

the rectifier on my GS 1100E (1983) just melted down smoke and flames exciting!!!!thank goodness it happened in the garage any idea what would cause this ?[-o< Yes she was idling and yes it is still running good off the battery.

What caused it is the suzy rectifiers were crap. Do the Honda r/r conversion and fogettaboutit. ;-)

Check out the "stator papers" and buy the Electrex stuff.

My original stock R/R lasted 25,000 miles. It wasn't until I started reading about the problems with these units, on this forum, that it smoked!


(Actually, my original R/R was replaced with a stock unit just after the warranty ran out, way back when.)
