Replacement front Master Cylinder

Can anybody reccomend a universal replacement front MC with a 14mm bore, brakelight switch, 7/8 bar mount and mirror mount? Mine is badly corroded and filled with sludge.

i recently put a 1200 bandit master cylinder on my gs. not sure of the year i can get back to u. but i believe its a 2000. it has a mirror post and fits a 7/8 bar. i also had a gsxr MC on it for a while but got tired of the bar end mirror.

I found this at the old bike barn. I ordered one, it has the correct bore diameter for my application. I'll post a review when I get it.

As long as they are both dual discs. yes.

I use both my front and rear brakes. I ride hard and have to stop fast.:shock:

I have found that master cylinders are pretty much universal. I had a Yamaha master on my Shadow and a Ninja master on my GS750EX. As long as it's for the same number of discs, you should be good. Plus, a newer master cylinder means easier-to-find rebuild kits and a modern, replaceable brake switch, just cut the old switch wires and add connectors for the new switch.

As for only needing one switch, what if your rear switch fails? I'd rather have a double-redundant system than have one shorted wire end up with a Cadillac giving me an enema.

As was pointed out in a previous discussion, if you use a Kawasaki master you will have to use the Kawasaki banjo bolt. All the rest are pretty much universal. Save yourself some headaches and buy new crush washers, too. They're cheap and cheap insurance.

Add some braided steel lines front and rear, and you've got yourself a bike that stops as well as a new one, well, almost.
