    Rear tire for '81 GS450S

The specs I've seen show the bike requiring a 3.50x18 tire, but I seem to be having trouble finding a rear tire in that size. Does a 4.00x18 fit? Can anyone point me to a good source for this size?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I have 120/90 18's on both my 450's. No problems. Might be easier to find that designation than the metric one. Tho a good shop should be able to help you find compatible tires if you give them what is called for.

I usually buy them locally and just bring them the rims.

Thanks for the response. I seem to have found what I need, but I'll call around for local pricing. Unfortunately, the Suzuki dealer isn't very close, and if I have to make two trips (order/pay, then mounting), I'd rather just buy online.

Nice bikes, mine came with the fairing, too, but it's missing the plexiglass. Is there a source for that?

i jave an 81 gs450l that had new tires on it when i bought it. i'll check the size after reading this thread because i was tightening the chain the other day and was shocked at how close the tire is to the chain, chain guard, and swingarm. pretty tight in there!

My opinion is that a 4.00 or a 110 is as wide as you should go considering the narrow rims of a 450S.

Really? The 120's I have don't seem out of place on the rims... Pretty sure thats what I have always had on them. HAve you had issues with 120's before?

If anything its the front of the E they seem to have setting a bead on. I suspect warpage tho.

My memory is not the best, what is the rim width on the 450E? 120 is okay for a 2.15 rim but for a 1.85, I think 110 is better.
