    Silly Question...

my GS450E has a strap around the seat, secured with screws, that looks like a PO put it there. however, i have seen pictures on a few Honda sites of bikes with this strap. what is it's purpose? that is, other than a last resort for passengers flying off the tail 8-[

That is exactly what it is for, a grab.

And what was so silly about that question?

The only silly or stupid questions are the ones you don't ask.

well, i didn't know if it was decorative. i was 3 the year the bike was made and that might have been the 'style'- like those flimsy roof racks on volvo wagons. haha. i'll feel better strapping stuff to it from now on

        thanks guys!

Believe it or else, a passenger grab rail or strap is required for bikes meant for a pillion passenger sold in the US. Just like folding footpegs and brake right, shift left controls.
