By the way this number is with the float gasket off. Minus 1mm if the gasket is installed.

    Just to clarify...the measurement 22.4 +/- 1.0 mm is metric. Acceptable range is 23.4 - 21.4 mm.

    0.88 +/- 0.04 inch is english units. Acceptable range is 0.92 - 0.84 inch.

          These come in handy. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=47257

Really nice quality for the money. Unfortunately, Harbor Freight jacks up the price on-line for some reason ($36 on-line but commonly available for $16 in-store since they put them on sale all the time).

I used a ruler with mm. Just measure both sides to make sure it's even.

Does anyone have a illustration of how to set the float hight. I'm more of a picture guy then a word guy. Also does anyone know what tool to measure with and what the specs are for a 1982 gs850g are?

                        Mr. SDk,

Have a look in the carb spec sticky thread at the top of this Tech section. You'll find all the numbers in there. Look at post #19 in this thread for the proper measurement tool.

If I may borrow from Mr. Steve...

Thanks for the pictures Mr. Steve!

                        Thank you for your indulgence,
