    What colour is your spark?

When checking for spark on 83-86 550s what colour is your spark?
    IS it fat and blue?
    Is it whitish? Yellow?

I ask this as I have been told that electronic ignitions do not produce a blue spark but rather a lighter less visually intense one.

Yellowish is a weaker spark. A good robust blue is perfect. Just my opinion.

I don't think I've ever had a fat blue spark on my GSs. More white/yellow. Seems to run fine that way and all my ignition components are in good nick (tested through-and-through).

I've been wondering how to test the quality of the spark.

I've got a DVM, but it only goes to 1,000 DCV and 500 ACV.

        Anyone?

I have two forms of spark. Running spark and non-running spark. :-D

A dvm won't work, you need an oscilloscope or perhaps your finger or another appendage.

depends on the sample rate. iirc some car coils run in the neighborhood of 25kVDC
