    rubber inserts on cylinder fins

    what are the rubber inserts on the fins of my 81gs450? there are two on each side of the cylinder fins. just curious.

          I've recently run with them and without them. I can't tell the difference.

          They are located where they can block airflow. Maybe their job is to keep the outer cylinders from getting too cool, relative to the inner ones.

            wont constant vibration if unchecked lead to cracking of the fins?

              they're there to help prevent fin cracking. It also affects engine noise slightly. Leave them in place if you like your motor cool.
