    Stripped handlebar switch

After all of the posts I've read about faulty/dirty/corroded/etc. switches on this forum, I wasn't expecting this problem from my right handlebar switch.

Someone tightened the thing too tight and the plastic post that holds the "nut" on the inside cracked all the way down, allowing the "nut" to come out when you attempt to tighten it. With the way it's tucked down in there, it's nearly impossible to get any kind of clamp around it. I can lightly tap the nut back in with a hammer, but when I try to tighten it up it slips out. Now the switch/throttle assembly rotates on the handlebar no matter how tight I get the screws. The switches and wiring are perfect.

So, anyone got an idea of how to fix this? I seriously doubt that glue or epoxy would hold it, but I could be wrong. How about modeling glue? Isn't that designed to "melt" the plastic together? Anyone got a set of switches they'd let me have cheap? The switches don't even have to work, I just need the housing.

Thats quick and painless but if you wanted to play doctor I bet you could rebuild that screw housing with a two part epoxy.

Epoxy might hold it. A "melt" as you call it or "Solvent Weld" as others might say would be better. What kind of glue to use is the question. PVC is very likely useless. I've used the cement for ABS pipe on the side covers and it works great. Don't know about the switch plastic. Acetone will dissolve almost any manmade plastic. Thet might work. LOL!!!
