    Jetting An 80 GS1100E

Hello all I am new to this forum. I have just purchased what was once a running 80 GS1100E untill a bunch of the wiring was cut to remove the stock gauges. The kid I bought it from could not figure out how to get her back together again. I need all new body parts I basically bought a rolling frame and tires.

Any way that is a little history. He added a 4 into 1 Header with Vance heins pipe. I am guessing though that he most likley did not jet it. Does it need to be jetted? If so what kind of jets would you recomend?

The other question I have is the Vance pipe gets in the way of the rear break pedal and foot rest. The mounting braket on the pipe does not line up with anything so there for the pipe is not mounted to anything. How do I fix this? Any one know?

    Thanks
    Shaun

    Hello, welcome.

Stock is 107.5 on the Mains and 45 on pilots. If you still have the airbox complete maybe 115 would work with airbox LID removed. You could try a 1/2mm washer under the E-clip on the needle. You'll need narrow snap ring pliers to get to it. Maybe 2 turns out on the airfuel mixture screws if they're not expoxyed like mine were.

You'll likely experiece a flat spot in rev range without a jet kit.

The pipe mounting bracket on the VH pipe could be relocated with a welder or you could temporarily shim out the footpeg. Don't know what to say if its interfering with the brake pedal.
    GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

Get some K&N pods and I'll help you get a Dynojet stage 3 kit dialed in.

Sounds like you have a 4 into 1 that isn't for the GS 1100 "E". You shouldn't need to modify anything. May be much better to find a pipe to fit, than to try to make this one fit, or modify the pedal & footrest.

More air flow from a V&H 4-1 will require rejetting of the main and jet needle adjustment. Sometimes up a step on the pilot jet or richening the idle mixture screw.
