    Coil compatibilty

Do any of you experts know if a 1981 GS650 coil would work on a 1981 GS750? It looks the same but none of the numbers coincide....I would think it would but if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. Mahalo!

My guess is that, since they both work with pointless ignitions, they will probably interchange. Compare them carefully. They might have different connectors or simply different lengths of wires.

I won't guarantee it, but my guess would be yes. I currently have the coils off a 96 GSXR600 on my 1100E and they not only work fine, they fit the mounting tabs perfectly. Suzuki were masters at using common parts across huge amounts of their product line and coils appear to be one of those common items.

Unfortunately, starter clutches, tanks, side covers, seats, tail sections and fork air inlets were not among the common parts list!
