    Shock Mount

Does anyone know if the rear shock mounts are a press fit or if they are threaded into the frame. One of mine is stripped. Don't ask how. It is on a 80 GS850G. I could rethread the mount and use a smaller nut, but I know where there is a frame I could get a mount from if I know how it is attached. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

It's permanent -- part of the frame. Try your rethread idea, but if that doesn't work you'll have to get more creative. Do some searching, there have been several threads recently discussing this exact issue. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick answer. I'll see what I can work out. Ok next time I will search first. Lots of good info, I tell everyone I know with a GS about the site. Looks like 3/8 24 retap is the way to go.

Try to keep it metric, if possible, but a 3/8-24 will do the job. 8-[

Re-thread if you can. I broke mine off, $175 to re-fab another.

            Thanks

Just a quick thanks to everybody that posted. Rethreaded to 10x1.25 and was able to get the shock nut to tighten to 14 foot lbs which is the bottom end of the torque spec. Thanks again.
