What The ??? Carbs? Rings? Petcock?

I'm seriously concerned. Having drained a LOT of fuel/oil from the crankcase of my GS1100EX and rebuilding the petcock and checking/cleaning the carbs I STILL have unburned fuel coming out of my exhaust as well as a lot of smoking. Is there a problem with rings? Is oil coming up from the crankcase somehow and getting into the combustion chambers? I have never had a problem like this with anything.

Gas in the crankcase is due to TWO problems: one, the petcock is sticking open and two, the carb float needles are not holding back the fuel. You should varify the petcock is working properly and consider cleaning/replacing the float seats and needles. While you are checking the petcock also make sure gas is not going backward down your vacuum line and into the engine. Oh, and change the oil before trying to run the engine.

Petcock rebuilds have the reputation of not working.

As said YOU need to replace the O rings on the fuel needle seat
Sucess when rebuilding the petcock depends on the condition to start. IF it is coroded bad ? replace it. Sometimes polishing the o ring sealing surface will help if you rebuild it
