Running issues
Having problems with my gs 700. I have to use starter fluid to get it going initially, then it idles ok. After driving for 30 minutes it just dies. I repeat the proces of getting it started and then it will die after a mile or 2. I replaced all the intakes and o-rings to elimnate a vacuum leak, thought carb three still seems to have a small leak. Any ideas as to where else to look?Tags: None -

Could be leaky exhaust or exhaust gaskets. Could be running ricj and a blast of starter fluid cleans out the much till it builds back up. How do you plugs look? Battery charge? -

Rich, a bit yes.
New plugs. I will yank em tomorrow and tell you how they look but they only have 20 miles on them. How do I change the mix if it is running rich? I'll try to tighten down the exhaust too. I didn't even think of that as being part of the issue//issues.Comment

Sounds more like an ignition problem than a fuel system problem. Do you have a sprark when it dies? Is the chake working properly? Are you using it?Comment

I have to agree with fgh - this is probably ignition. More than likely the charging system is Kaput - either the stator or voltage regulator/rectifier.
Get a voltmeter, check the voltage on the battery with the engine off and then again once you get the engine running - if the voltage doesn't come up to at least 13volts when running, then you definitely have a bad charging system.Comment
