Please help me I.D. this parts bike.

Purchased a GS1000G of unknown year, in very rough condition as a parts bike for my '80 GS1000G. But the numbers dont match. The vin #'s on the neck [both stamped and on the sticker] are GS100G-702207. so far so good. The numbers on the case by the oil fill read, U701-103457 this dosnt appear "right" as my case #'s start with GS100G- like the neck vin. finaly, the cylinder block's cast in #'s say 1074. unfortunatly all the bodywork was missing except for the standard G model tailpiece. Forks are GL model. No hinges for seat, two brackets @ front instead. Thats about it. Thanks for any help.

yep! and it sounds like it may be a 82 or 83 1100G. does it have a key operated latch at the rear of where the seat goes? or have a hole in the top of the rear tail piece?

Can't say much about the numbers, but the fact that you have no hinges, only two brackets at the front hint that it is an L model.

Getting closer, still need some help!

The frame cross brace @ the back of the seat area has two threaded holes where a seat latch may have been. It is also angular as opposed to the smooth arch w/o holes on my '80. I believe the rolling chassis to be an early '80s GS1000GK. How do I find out if the entire motor is an 1100 or if an 1100 top-end was swapped onto a set of 1000 cases? Also does anyone have bore/stroke specs for both the 8 valve 1100s & 1000s?
