    charging system output

    hello

    I need the charging system output for 84 1150 EF wattage.
    Anyone?

    NONE of the literature I have ever seen for the GS-series bikes has ever listed "Wattage" as an output figure. However, I have seen some posters here show it as about 240 Watts, about 3/4 of which is used in normal operation of the bike.

    What is the motive for your question? Are you having problems or are you just curious?

      Charging system capacity?

      This interests me in that I'm considering options to power electric gloves or suit and I'd like to know my options. I don't know wattage consumed by these yet, but Steve, if you say there's only about 1/4 of system capacity left, that could be an issue. I occasionally blow the 10A fuse to the lights when I run my brights for extended time. Makes me wonder about the 'robustness' of the system, although could just be a loose connection heating up.

        Most likely a connection issue creating too much resistance / heat. Dielectric grease goes a long way to eliminating problems like these.

          I curently run a electric vest i think it is 35 watts, i was also going to put some extra driving lights. with just 240 watts. I think that would be too much. would a aftermarket stator be higher wattage?

            It all depends on how things are wound. Not sure though as I'm one of the few here that have not had stator / RR issues. The first thing that I did when I got the bike running was to tear into the wiring and clean and grease EVERY connection. That and keep it inside, always, work or home.

              I know my old bike had no problems ( a 550e) my new bike is from ontario (lots of humidity) and all the connections I have checked, have been corroded. I live in Alberta (very dry and very dry winters) this winter I will be going through all the wiring to clean thigs up as reccomended by everyone here.
