    Fuel & Vacuum hose sizes - 80 GS 1000G

Does anyone know what they are off hand? Don't have access to the bike today to measure & want to get some ordered....

(New ones for the carbs plus a long line in case I want to run it with the tank off).

5/16" automotive fuel line fits pretty loosely on the petcock nipple - depending on the brand of line. The stock fuel line is smaller than this. You can try it but the stock line is closer to 1/4". Problem is that automotive fuel line is quite thick so it will hold pressure, while the stock line is thin and flexible. I wasn't happy with the fit of the auto line so I just ordered the factory stuff.

          Size matters

          Hi Mr. salty_monk,

I found this discussed in another thread. Seems like the fuel line is actually 8mm and our 5/16" sizes can vary depending on the maker/quality of the line.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

          BassCliff

Forgive me Cliff but the factory fuel line is not 8mm, more like 6-7mm but stretchy so it expands easily to slip over the petcock/carb nipples.

The petcock nipple is 8mm thus when using a 5/16" (7.93mm) fuel line it slides on easily and there is not a lot of interference thus it could leak depending on actual size of the line.

Thanks people. It's the Vacuum line I really need plus I was after a long line that I could use to run the bike with tank off (with petcock on prime).

Both lines on the bike are ok but the vacuum one has a small nick & I'd rather have a new one on there.

Good idea on the Fiche - Nessism. Flatout didn't tell me a lot but on Bikebandit I can see 7x10.2x240 Which would make sense in mm (although maybe a little short) if this was ID, OD & Length. Vacuum says 5x8.2x2000 - ID, OD seem ok again but 2000 is way too long.

I'll probably give Z1 a call & see what they have.

I use the 5/16 fuel line with small hose clamps and never had an issue. The larger motors need more fuel flow. I don't need a clamp with the 1/2" vacuum line.
