Why are the gasket sets I see for 80 and up on the GS1000? I never see anything listed for 78-79. Are they the same??

No...some MAY be the same, but i doubt it...especially those whose motor switched to the 16 valve design in 80 (boo) Post 80 gaskets will be missing such things as the kickstarter hole in the gasket for the clutchside cover, the points cover from my observation will prolly be a bit smaller since they at that point had Electrionic ignition. Some models may be similar but all lost the kickstarter (unfortunately) in 80 i believe. -
