Sevicable Limit On '81 Gs650l Front Disc

Can anyone out there tell me the original thickness of the front slotted single disc on the '81 GS650L? What the servicable limit is? And how to recover a good surface on it if it has been scored (i.e. surface grinding or whatever). What would the finished thickness be in this case?

The minimum thickness limit should be stamped on the disc, somewhere in the middle painted bit. I'll have to pass on what the measurements are for a new disc.

No idea here, either, on how thick a new disc is, but the minimum that is stamped on mine is 5.5 mm.

Resurfacing bike disks is hard, because they mount so differently than car discs. There is also much less to start with, so any grooves that are particularly noticeable are probably beyond repair.

According to the suzuki manual supplemental section for 650gl the standard thickness is 6.0 +/- 0.2 mm (0.24 +/- 0.008 inches) and the limit is 5.5 or 0.22 in.

For the terminally inquisitive, this is one mm thicker than the dual 650g brake set up.
